Comment on this (0 so far) y2008m02d09 - I was home on my own one Saturday afternoon and the snow was packing outside. So I suited up and headed out to fashion a snowfort for the felines. It was very easy to build from one of the deeper snow drifts. Once it was finished I took the cats out for a tour. They didn't stick around too long but did crawl about within for a bit (the cat treats I hid inside helped spark interest, no doubt). The black patch is Ard. Comment on this (0 so far) y2008m02d09 - I made the snowfort with two-stories and a back entrance. For decoration I added cat ears at the top. Here Ard is peaking out the doorway.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2008m01d04 - Rachel gave each cat a flossing, catnip-enriched, fabric mouse toy. Telum unwrapped his jiffyquick-like and was high before you could say "catnip kills brain cells". Comment on this (8 so far) y2008m01d04 - Ard wasn't quite as quick to open and play with his catnip mouse -- I don't think he has experienced catnip much before.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d27 - I like that cute, surprised look on kittens' faces. Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d27 - Does Huppim look guilty? See that chunk of cotton below? That belongs to Mom's quilt...
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d27 - Nap time with the gang. Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d23 - Ooo! It is fun to hide underneath the garbage can!
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d15 - Ard looking cute. Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d14 - Made you yawn! ß-) Time to rise and shine!
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d13 - ZZZzzzzz... Either the kittens are out cold sleeping or going full tilt. Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d10 - It took a while to learn how to tell Muppim and Huppim apart since they are both completely black. I don't have much trouble now since we've discovered that Muppim has slightly lighter fur and is fluffier. Also Huppim is more energetic. However, I can't tell who is shown in this photo...
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d07 - And Spurgeon again. Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m09d07 - Spurgeon is often wrestling with the others - this time it is with Ard. Though Spurgeon is the smallest she is plenty feisty and seems to have developed faster than the rest.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - Here she is! Her name is written in Chinese characters on the right - "xian" and "zi". Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - XianZi curled up in the living room.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - This is actually Telum's personal perch so we don't encourage XianZi to sit here. So far there haven't been to many fights over it... Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - It seems she prefers sleeping here more than any other spot.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - That's it guys - sharing is good! Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - Or maybe they are just too sleepy to argue...
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - Hey, that's the wrong bowl, XianZi!! As of June 3, 2005 Telum weighed 5.67 kg (12.5 lbs.) and XianZi weighted only 2.72 kg (6 lbs.). So she is eager to eat whatever is available, even if it is from Telum's bowl. Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - "Mraauuw - stay away from my kibble or I shall smite thee!!"
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - That's better, XianZi. And it's your own fault if it's empty! Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - Here I'm holding XianZi. She isn't nearly as comfortable with being carried as Telum is, but we'll train her.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - My sis, Rachel, holding XianZi. Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - And now, look RIGHT!
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - Relaxing on the bed. Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - To cats employ a sort of feline photosynthesis...?
Comment on this (0 so far) y2005m06d04 - "Hey! I'm trying to sleep here!" Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m12d23 - And here are Dad, Mom, and Telum. Dad is being a little goofy. ß-)
Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m12d23 - Beware, those that would take a gift from under the tree before the day appointed! A dangerous creature doth lurk in the shadows, waiting with keen eye and ear. OK, so it is just Telum. And the flash made the dark lair look rather un-sinister. But you get the idea. Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m12d23 - Speaking of Telum, he is into perching atop the box containing our Young Peoples' song books.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m12d23 - Here he is trying to sniff the camera. He isn't that fuzzy in real. Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m12d23 - "So, those humans think they are in charge around here, huh? I'm actually the brains of the operation. May my reign be long and decadent - all hail King Telum!"
Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m12d23 - Telum has been trained to sit on our laps. Normally he won't for long but I was in front of the heater here so that has a draw for Telum. The flash made his eyes white so I added the pupils. He, he, what a dopey looking cat! Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m12d23 - This image isn't for the faint of heart. Telum has been slowly but brutally tearing this innocent victim to pieces. We have tried getting him to stop chewing on this victim and others of its kind, but the urge must be built into Telum's cruel nature.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m12d11 - Telum does not like winter. Well, let me rephrase that. Telum does not like being outdoors during winter. Sometimes we take him outside for some fresh air and exercise. The only real way to get him to exercise is to take him a distance away from the backsteps and then let him go. He rockets over to the back door and meows pitifully to go in. In this shot he's smokin' it back home. Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m07d03 - My, what a handsome creature! He thinks so too... Telum has been with us for a number of years now and he's become one of the family.
Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m07d03 - My sister is trying to get him to chase the stick but Telum doesn't follow commands well... He's much too clever for that! Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m07d03 - Shady character. ß-)
Comment on this (0 so far) y2004m07d03 - And slippery too! Telum may look cute and cuddly but he can quickly turn into a tornado with prickly claws and jaws. Comment on this (0 so far) The milk bar is open.
Comment on this (0 so far) The four didn't venture from their "nest" for a while. They mostly slept, bunched together. Their eyes were shut at first - what else is there to do but sleep then, eh? Comment on this (0 so far) XianZi is keeping an eye on the little one.
Comment on this (0 so far) One by one the kittens' eyes opened and they started venturing outside of the nest. It was a bit of struggle getting in and out, especially with rather unsteady legs. Comment on this (0 so far) Of course kittens are so cute and fluffy that one has to pick them up sometimes. Here Spurgeon (the spunkiest of the four) is hanging out with Dad.
Comment on this (0 so far) It didn't take long for the kittens to loose the wee-kitten look. Ard is chillin' on the carpet.
