Back in the tail end of 2001 I got into creating digital music with a program called Fruity Loops Studio. I have never learned how to play a "real" instrument but music is something I do love, so being able to use the computer (which I also love) as an outlet to make music was super appealing. Since 2001 I've logged many an hour in FL Studio capturing some of the sounds floating in my head into files. At first I only used the demo version which could do everything but save the project to file. So I had to create and export a song in one sitting, without closing the program. Despite this large handicap I did export a number of song which I burnt to CD. Some of them sound pretty cheesy to me nowadays but others still sound good enough to turn up and let the bass pound.
These days I can now spend way more time fine-tuning songs because I've bought FL Studio, Fruity Loops edition. This freedom usually translates to never actually completing and exporting a song, though! ß-) I'd encourage you to download the working demo of FL Studio - it is a way cool program and they keep adding to it. Check out the FL Studio website here. I've listed some of the songs I've completed on the right.
